Est. Kansas · Settled Overland Park

Oh, you want the lore.

Fair. This is the page where I stop making you piece it together from recipes and playlists. Short version: K-State grad, “accidental” home-bar owner, spreadsheet whisperer who increasingly just builds the software the spreadsheet was standing in for, and – since 2023 – some of y’alls neighbor. The long version is below.

Adam Sweat grinning next to a Big Buck Hunter leaderboard he tops twice
fig. 1 – the guy in question (see also: Kansas leaderboard, positions 1 and 2)
The journey, abridged
five beats, zero “passionate self-starter”
Manhattan, KS
K-State.
Four years of learning things on purpose and a few things by accident. Go Cats.
Junior year
A bar opens out of my room.
The Hum. It started as “I have bottles and you have a Tuesday” and got out of hand in the best possible way. It never really closed.
After that
The work finds me.
Turns out the brain that obsesses over a cocktail spec also obsesses over spreadsheets – and then over the code underneath them. I started making businesses look as good as they are: models, systems, and more and more the software itself, sites and internal tools I actually build. The unglamorous stuff, done carefully.
2023
Historic Overland Park.
Moved into the neighborhood and immediately overcommitted: a farmers market, a vibrant community, and the loveliest liquor store in the world, all within a few blocks.
Now
You’re caught up.
Potlucks on the driveway, shelf tags at The Bottle Shop, playlists for grooves I haven’t met yet. The second glass is chilled.
The part where it’s secretly one job
At a desk I make businesses look as good as they are – and work as well as they look.
Behind a bar A good drink is mostly an excuse to stay a little longer.

People ask which one is the real one. Both. It’s the same move: pay attention to people, sweat the details, make the thing that matters. One ends in an invoice, the other ends in a nightcap. My favorite days end in both.

Frequently asked, genuinely
real questions from real neighbors, lightly edited for length, never for honesty
That’s the lore.
Your turn. Tell me who you are, what you need, or anything at all.

Legally and permanently.
It started out of my room at K-State and never really closed. There’s no address – it’s mostly wherever I’m pouring, and you’re mostly invited. Check out the Menu
Yes.

This is one of the most common questions I get, and it really depends on the reason behind the ask! Sometimes guests are looking for guidance on what to order, other times they’re simply curious about my personal favorites. I like to answer all sides of the question at once by sharing a few favorites from the menu and introducing guests to different spirits, techniques, and styles they may not have tried before.

But at the core, I don’t have a singular favorite drink to make. What I love most is crafting something that leaves a guest not only delighted in the moment but also excited to explore the world of cocktails. There’s nothing more rewarding than helping someone discover they love an ingredient or style they never expected – or maybe even changing their mind on a spirit they once disliked.

That’s the lore.
